Thanksgiving Food Drive
We come to you with great enthusiasm with an announcement
from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Xi Epsilon Lambda (Columbia, Mo.)
Chapter's 10th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Ten years ago the Xi Epsilon Lambda Chapter challenged themselves to
feed seven families three square meals a day for seven days during the
week of Thanksgiving. Since then we have challenged ourselves to
increase the number of families we serve each year. Last year with the
help of the Mid-Missouri community we were able to not only meet our
goal to provide for twenty-one (21) families, but exceed that goal by
donating twenty-five (25) twenty (20) pound turkeys and approximately
100 pounds of non-perishable food items to 1st Ward, City Councilwomen,
Almeta Crayton’s Food Bank for her Thanksgiving Dinner.
With the massive numbers who struggle to provide nutritious meals for
their families throughout the year; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
comes to you for your support in helping us touch the lives of as many
less fortunate Columbia, Mo. families as possible this Thanksgiving.
Our goal is to provide enough food for 25 families to have three meals
per day for seven days leading up to Thanksgiving Day. This request is
for monetary donations and/or non-perishable food donations. With
monetary donations, food items will be purchased in bulk and
distributed to families suggested to us by the Columbia Voluntary
Action Center on Saturday, November 18th.
We thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide; together we
can make a great impact on the lives of others.
Sincerely,
Jamon Simmons (Thanksgiving Food Drive Chair) & Jimi Langley
(President)
